We know it’s a tough time. So much is up in the air. Maybe you’re working from home. Maybe you’re working on the frontlines in hospitals. Maybe you’re asking the grandparents for help to look after the children you’ve pulled out from school.
We want to thank those in the community who are able to implement drastic social distancing measures to keep the vulnerable and at most risk - safe. We want to thank the medical staff who are risking their lives to contain and beat the virus, and other essential community workers like teachers and police (and even the supermarket staff!!!).
We want you to know that we are here to help you if you need our support. Begina Education, along with KleenIt Pty Ltd and Eagle Trans Pty Ltd are working together to bring the highest level of care.
So what are we doing?
As a group of small business owners, we understand everyone is experiencing hardship. Our staff are exceptional and willing to work so long as we have work for them. Of course, this will be extremely challenging as they job-share and have hours reduced so their livelihoods remain somewhat intact. What we will charge to keep business running won’t fully cover our costs. We only ask that you get behind us in supporting the community. Begina Education will continue to open our doors for as long as we are able to. We will run a limited program; tutor-led English and Math worksheets, and extra activities (e.g. art/STEM) where possible based on staffing.
Our new policy is to distance, disinfect, sanitize, clean, clean and clean. We will continue with daily disinfecting - now with the help of KleenIt (who has hospital grade cleaning clearance). For as long as we can, we will provide hand sanitiser in all classrooms. Classroom seating have been rearranged to the social distancing guidelines. Every classroom has a maximum of six (6) children at any one time and a maximum total of 25 children in the centre. We have already implemented extra screening for travel history for any new enrolments.
Effective immediately, all staff will wear masks. We have themometers to read the temperature of each child upon entry. All staff/children who are unwell/with COVID-19 like symptoms will be sent home. Families will no longer be allowed to enter our centres as our front doors become the drop-off/pick up point. This is to ensure the safety of our staff and you, the families, by minimising the risk of exposure. We will continue to use email and phone calls as the main methods of communication.
If you are a critical community worker (doctor, nurse, paramedic, teacher, police etc) please let us know! As a way to thank you and serve you, we will slash the price by 50% because that’s the least we can do. We are also coordinating with Eagle Trans Pty Ltd to use their 12-seater vans to provide a pick-up service from your home where possible. As capacity is limited, we will also give your child(ren) priority.
We are starting this as soon as possible, but if you need this service now (minimum 3 hours) we can only provide this service at our Bayside centre in Rockdale. We aim to have this up and running at Lidcombe and Parramatta when our current pre-school and after-school programs finish up for the term.
Cost will depend on how many people want this service, but the current price guide is about $15/hour.
We are taking expression of interest while we prioritise Rockdale enrolments. Please fill in the form at: https://bit.ly/begina-covid19
We are preparing for the possibility of schools closing for an extended period of time and are finalising a limited day program for K-6 students who have working parents.
If you have a need to put your children in our care should schools close for an extended period of time, please email us first so we can better cater for everyone.
Begina preschool classes will run as normal.
All classrooms will maintain a ratio of 1:6 children or less, and our maximum total capacity will be 25 students for each centre.
New enrolments will be required parents to provide details of travel history. We ask for your understanding of this requirement during this period of time.
Please be assured that health is our first priority. We have increased vigilance around hygiene, hand-washing and protocols to prevent the spread of cold and flu. We have placed hand sanitisers in each classroom and waiting area, and all teachers and staff have been actively reminding students to frequently wash their hands between each activity and also before they have any snacks/food. As the student ratios are low, the centres are not crowded and remain very safe.
We ask all families to continue to be considerate of the health of others. If your child has not travelled but has flu-like symptoms or symptoms of any other illness, please keep them at home until they are well. We have asked the same for our staff and therefore classes may be cancelled or changed with short notice.
